Christmas 2012

Christmas came fast this year.  Since starting work I had been working overtime so I have been away from the house for 13 hours a day typically.  I looked forward to having a day off (although it was only one day).  The boys received a lot of surprises.  Aunt Kelly flew in on Christmas Eve.  Check out the surprise looks on the boys faces!

We went to Christmas Eve services.  Both boys were under the weather with breathing treatments again.  christmas4christmas3

We did the traditional exchanging of Christmas Eve PJs.   photo 5

Then it was off to bed for the boys and go time for Santa.  xmas5

The next morning was extremely eventful and happy times.

The next biggest surprise was a knock at the door.

Gramma and Grandpa Archer for Christmas!  We didn’t let the boys know that any family were coming so it was fun to see the shock in their faces.  They had a good visit.  We got to go to Los Toros.

They got to go on a train ride to Santa Barbara.  Gramma and Grandpa bought the boys something so cool!  Bunk Beds!!!!  A month later, this is still a huge hit.  xmas3

Scott and I even got to go out on a date.

The Polar Express

Last year we had such an amazing trip to the North Pole.  We surprised the boys and did it all over again this year.  Still without a doubt, this has got to be one of my favorite family memories ever.  I love the boys eyes lighting up and having that innocence in them.  We watched the movie, “The Polar Express” beforehand and read the book.  We gave them an early birthday present of PJs and then headed to the train station.  What is great is that both boys fell asleep on the way there so they had no idea how long we were in the car.  Of-course the conductor stamped their tickets, we read Christmas stories with Santa’s helpers, ate cookies and milk and sang Christmas carols.  Then we arrived at the North Pole and picked up Santa Claus!

School Christmas Plays

The boys both had Christmas programs at school this year.  They both did amazing.  Harrison usually does not participate in any of his school’s programs but look at his up there!  He was waving the entire time (well outside of knocking the kid next to him off of the risers).  school plays 2 school plays 3 school plays

We haven’t had family photos done since Harrison was born so we were overdue.  Here is the outcome!ArcherFAM 003 websize DPP006Head RET Websize DPP013 websize DPP020 websize DPP021 websize DPP024 websize DPP025 websize

Running!!!

Well clearly I cannot catch up on the blog.  There is so much I would love to post but it would take forever so I am just going to do a few for now.   After my knee had healed from my prior injury this year, Scott and I started running together.  We started with a mud run.  This was a first for the both of us and it was extremely fun.  It was a 3 mile run with tons of obstacles and of-course…mud!  We dressed up 80’s style with our team.

Then we entered a 4 race Winter trail series.  Each race was a trail run here in Simi Valley and was roughly 5 miles each.  photo 12 photo 13 photo 14

And both of us placed 2nd in our age division overall.

It was a lot of fun and nice to see parts of Simi we haven’t seen yet.  We also signed up for the Great Race in Agoura in March.  It is a half marathon (13.1 miles) trail run.
